A user-oriented location sharing system for the mobile device

Location related service has greatly increased with the development of communication and computer technology. Map generation and spatial indexing are key technical issues for the location related service in mobile environment. Most of the spatial indexing methods have focused on how to search efficiently in specified areas. However, they are inappropriate to resizing objects or interaction. In this research, we tried to figure out people's difficulties in the way-finding, and provided a new method for people to share the location information with each other. We conducted user requirement research through interview and developed three design alternatives. These three design alternatives were evaluated by conducting user test and some requirements for prototype design are gathered. We described the location sharing system prototype with technical issues and design guidelines for user interface design.
