摘要

Ultrafast passively mode locked lasers with single-wall carbon nanotube (SWCNT) saturable absorbers have recently received considerable attention. A porous alumina matrix (PAM) embedded with an SWCNT-dispersed epoxy resin complex can be used as efficiently heat-sinked saturable absorbers. In this study, we fabricated a saturable absorber in which SWCNTs were uniformly dispersed in the PAM; for this purpose, we embedded an SWCNT-dispersed epoxy resin in the PAM. The SWCNT absorptions in the near-infrared (NIR) region were shown when the PAM thickness was more than 110 pm. The extent of absorption also increased with the concentration of SWCNTs in the resin. An Er fiber laser with the saturable absorber developed in this experiment could be mode-locked with a pulse width of 870 fs at a wavelength of around 1557 nm. The output power and repetition rate were 19.2 mu W and 16.6 MHz, respectively.
