The microwave dielectric properties and microstructure of the two-phase (Mg0.95Zn0.05)TiO3-CaTiO3 ceramic system were investigated. Dielectric properties of (Mg0.95Zn0.05)TiO3 ceramics could be effectively promoted by adding CaTiO3 to the specimen. At 1300 degrees C, 0.95(Mg0.95Zn0.05)TiO3-0.05CaTiO(3) ceramic possesses good combination of microwave dielectric properties; a dielectric constant epsilon(r) of similar to 20.4, a Q x f value of similar to 109,300 GHz (at 10 GHz), and a tau(f) value of similar to-12.42 ppm/degrees C. The tau(f) value is strongly correlated to the compositions and can be controlled through the compositional ratio. With x = 0.07, a dielectric constant epsilon(r) of similar to 22.6, a Q x f value of similar to 93,200 GHz (at 10 GHz), and a tau(f) value of similar to-2.62 ppm/degrees C was obtained for 0.93 (Mg0.95Zn0.05)TiO3-0.07CaTiO(3) ceramic sintered at 1300 degrees C for 4 h.
