摘要

Diabetes is a chronic illness caused by the reduced production of insulin, or by decreased ability to use insulin. Prolonged diabetes may affect the tiny blood vessels of the eye called diabetes retinopathy (DR). Diabetic maculopathy (DM) results when the fluid rich fat and cholesterol leakes out of damaged blood vessels and accumulates near the centre of the retina (macula). This may affect the central vision. This survey outlines the description, and algorithms used for the automated detection of diabetic maculopathy. Methods used for the detection of retinal features such as Optic disc, fovea and the exudates used for the automated detection of DM were discussed. Finally, a summary of various automated DM diagnosis were summarized.
