摘要

An implementation method of tunable liquid crystal lens is proposed based on the principle of optical phased array technology and the electro-optic characteristic of the liquid crystal. Theoretical analysis of the feasibility is made and a liquid lens is fabricated. The device has 1920 electrodes, 9.6 mm aperture size and 0.8 filling ratio. It is driven by a voltage of 5 V and each electrode can be controlled independently by 201-level AC square-wave voltage. Simulation has been made to produce the phase delay distribution. Relative error of the spot size at the focus between the liquid crystal lens and the conventional lens has been analyzed which demonstrates that the liquid lens can vary the focal length between 0.4 m to 10 m continuously. Experiment has also been done to verify that the liquid lens has the capacity to control the divergence of an incident light and to realize funable focal length by varying the focal length.
