摘要

There have been repeated reports in the public media on a substantial increase in alcohol consumption by children and adolescents. Event concepts, such as flat rate parties and drinking habits, such as binge drinking come under public scrutiny. The study was designed to collate the composition and timing of increased necessity for treatment in hospital of children and adolescents under the influence of alcohol over the 5-year time period from 2005 to 2009. In this retrospective study the laboratory data of the three largest hospitals in Dresden from the years 2005-2009 were evaluated. Criteria for inclusion were patients aged 21 years or younger and a blood alcohol concentration of at least 0.1 aEuro degrees. In the evaluation period the patient collective consisted of more boys (61 %) than girls (37 %). The average age of the patients was 17.3 years. Female patients were significantly younger than male patients. The average blood alcohol concentration was 1.71 aEuro degrees and was clearly lower in female patients than in male patients. Approximately two thirds of the patients were treated at the weekend (Friday to Sunday). More than 60 % of patients were treated between 11 pm and 5 am. In relation to the demographic development there was an increase in the number of patients treated, particularly in the age group 15-17 years.
