Use of PbO as a photocatalyst in photocatalytic bleaching of Safranine-O

The photocatalytic bleaching of Safranine-O (Saf-O) over lead mono oxide powder was observed spectrophotometrically. The effects of the concentration of Saf-O, pH amount of semiconductor, light intensity on the rate of the photocatalytic bleaching was also studied. A tentative mechanism for the photocatalytic bleaching of Saf-O is proposed.
