摘要

Despite its status as a legal and culturally, well established; drug, alcohol is clearly the most dangerous addictive product for the fetus. %26lt;br%26gt;Moderate or heavy alcohol consumption during pregnancy may be responsible for a more or less complete set of malformation and dysmorphic abnormalities, pre- and post-natal growth retardation, and severe developmental neurological, cognitive and behavioral disorders. %26lt;br%26gt;No evidence of the safety of prenatal exposure to small amounts of alcohol has been clearly provided and no threshold for safe consumption formally identified. Thus the prevention message is to avoid alcohol intake during pregnancy. %26lt;br%26gt;Many experimental animal data confirm the direct role of alcohol in the generation of morphological abnormalities, mainly cerebral and neurobehavioral defects (1), which may be responsible for major disability for life.
