摘要

Baccharis coridifolia, a member of the family Asteraceae is known by the common names mio-mio, vassourinha, alecrim-do-mato, romerillo, ajenjo del campo, nio-nio and toxic groundsel. It has been demonstrated for this species anti-oxidant, cytotoxic and anti-inflammatory activities. It presentes macrocyclic trichotecenes which are considered relevant for cancer treatment. However, in South America, B. coridifolia is considered as toxic plant for animals, due to these chemical substances. This work has aimed to study the morphology and anatomy of the aerial vegetative organs of B. coridifolia, in order to obtain information concerned to the identification and differentiation from this species to other Baccharis, as well as to supply taxonomic data to the section Paniculatae. The botanical material was prepared according to standard light and scanning microtechniques. Anomocytic stomata, isobilateral mesophyll, multicellular non-glandular and glandular trichomes inserted in small depressions, secretory ducts associated to the phloem and idioblasts containing calcium oxalate are reported as the mainly morpho-anatomical data for Baccharis coridifolia.
