In the title compound, C(17)H(16)N(2)center dot H(2)O, the imidazole ring is essentially planar [maximum deviation = 0.0037 (7) angstrom]. The imidazole ring makes dihedral angles of 80.74 (7) and 41.62 (7)degrees with the phenyl rings attached to the N and C atoms, respectively. The dihedral angle between the two phenyl rings is 75.83 (8)degrees. Intermolecular O-H center dot center dot center dot N and O-H center dot center dot center dot O hydrogen bonds are found in the crystal structure.
