The molecule of the title compound, C(5)H(4)Cl(2)N(2)O, is close to being planar (r.m.s. deviation = 0.013 angstrom), apart from the C atom of the methoxy group, which deviates by 1.082 (2) angstrom from the mean plane of the other atoms. In the crystal, short Cl center dot center dot center dot N contacts [3.0940 (15) and 3.1006 (17) angstrom] generate a three-dimensional framework.
