In the title compound, [Mg(C16H17FN3O3)(2)(H2O)(2)]center dot 6H(2)O, the Mg2+ ion (site symmetry (1) over bar) exhibits a distorted MgO6 octahedral geometry defined by two O, O bidentate 1-ethyl-6-fluoro-1,4-dihydro-4-oxo-7-(1-piperazinyl)-3-uinoline-carboxylate (norf) anions and two water molecules. In the crystal, O- H center dot center dot center dot O and O-H center dot center dot center dot N hydrogen bonds help to establish the packing.
