摘要

As a small hydro power plant the Steffturbine is used for an electrical output power of approximately 10 kW. According to a wide range of experiments to determinate power, efficiency rate, partial filling and mechanical losses a theoretical approach could be developed and calibrated. The very simple primary approach was developed into a complex hydraulic mechanical turbine model, which produces results with excellent match to experimental data. Already known approaches for loss effects were adjusted to the character of the Steffturbine. Other effects had to be fully redeveloped. This article particularly presents the derivation of the turbine model based on a hydraulic-mechanical approach. The torque losses from partial filling, buoyancy, gap losses, hydraulic friction, mechanical friction and fluid dynamic effects were introduced successively. The charm of this theoretical model is that it describes the characteristic of the turbine very well and keeps solvable algebraically too.
