The title compound, C18H18N2O, has been synthesized by the reaction of N-tert-butyl-N';-(4-ethylbenzoyl)-3,5-dimethylbenzoylhydrazine with oxalyl chloride. The three rings are nearly coplanar and the molecular geometry is unexceptional.
